Vitamin A keeps the eyes lubricated by producing tears. Tears are the defense system for the eyes against infections. Vitamin A also maintains a healthy surface of the eye called cornea to prevent age related decline. Vitamin A plays an important role in forming a yellow pigment known as rhodopsin. Rhodopsin is necessary for low light vision. Thus Vitamin A is extremely important for the eyes.

Vitamin A helps produce sebum. Sebum is the natural oil keeping the skin moisturized. It has a role in repairing the skin tissues as well. Vitamin A also protects the skin from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. Vitamin A also guards the skin against the damage caused by free radicals. Vitamin A reduces the inflammation that is associated with acne. If there was no vitamin A, the skin would hardly heal from cuts and wounds.

Balanced diet nutrition, healthy clean eating concept. Assortment of food sources rich in vitamin A

The natural sources of vitamin A include sweet potato, liver, egg, carrot, milk and dark leafy greens. Vitamin A can also be obtained from supplements. Poor diets are the main reason ehy people can’t get enough vitamin A. Problems with absorption in the gut and liver diseases may also be the cause of vitamin A deficiency.

Taking vitamin A in sufficient amount is crucial for the body to be in a healthy condition. It is recommended that one get enough of vitamin A, no matter from food or supplements. Because vitamin A is extremely important for the eyes, and the skin.

Diet with insufficient vitamin A intake can cause several symptoms including dry skin, dry eyes, night blindness, infertility, delayed growth, throat and chest infections, poor wound healing, and acne.

Conclusion

Thus if there was no vitamin A, the eyes would run out of tears, and the skin would become dry. Thus we would all become blind and life would become impossible.
